Jordan Lake State Recreation Area
If you love hiking, boating, fishing, and camping, Jordan Lake State Recreation Area is for you! This beautiful destination consists of nine access points scattered around the shores of an undeveloped 14,000-acre reservoir. There are more than 1,000 campsites in the area with options for RV hookups, tent camping, and group camping.
Activities
The park is replete with activities for all kinds of campers. There are more than 14 miles of hiking trails throughout, that offer great views of the lake and wildlife. The lake also provides great options for swimming, boating, and fishing, although some of these areas are designated for patrons of specific campgrounds only. So, be sure to look for signs before entering the water. And, while you’re out on the water, keep an eye out for a majestic bald eagle. Jordan Lake is home to the largest concentration of bald eagles east of the Mississippi!
Where to Camp
While there are plenty of options for camping near the lake, Crosswinds Campground, Parkers Creek, and Poplar Point are the largest. Each of these campgrounds offers sites for RV hookups and tent camping. And, at each location, campers are provided with a picnic table, grill, and lantern holder, and have access to showers, restrooms, and dumpsters. These campgrounds all provide waterfront access, sandy beaches, and hiking trails.
