1. Hanging Rock State Park
Locals to the Triad have been enjoying the cool waters at Hanging Rock for 90 years. Located near Danbury, the park provides a refreshing escape from urban life, complete with an alpine lake beach. The waters at the lake are crisp and cool. Many visitors like to cool off in the lake after exploring the region’s hiking and mountain biking trails.
2. Sennett Hole
Many hikers along Eno River have been pleasantly surprised to stumble upon Sennett Hole. This rock-rimmed pool is nearly the size of an Olympic swimming pool and allows swimmers to dive nearly eight feet into cool mountain water. The hole is surrounded by large boulders, trees, and a picturesque waterfall.
3. Deep Creek

Adventure seekers come from miles around to enjoy nature’s waterslide at Sliding Rock. This 60-foot natural rock waterslide provides a fast-paced thrill for people of all ages. Be prepared, though, as this chilly ride ends with a dunk in an ice-cold pool. The only thing more fun than riding down this waterslide is watching from the spectator’s area near the pool!
